The Singareni coal-mining region represents an important chapter in the industrial history of Bhadradri Kothagudem. Coal was discovered near Yellandu in 1871, and mining rights were acquired in 1886. The Singareni Collieries Company Limited later became a major coal-mining organization and remains closely associated with the district’s industrial identity.
